Social Work / Philanthropy

Helping fellow mankind has been one of Hanwha¡¯s founding principles. In furtherance of this principle, Hanwha has been conducting social work not only through contributions and donations but also through active community service.

Hanwha, for instance, is an active participant in the national ¡°Job Sharing Program¡±, which was started in order to reduce the number of unemployed young people in Korea. Hanwha officers took a voluntary salary reduction to allow the company to hire more interns, and labor unions have voluntarily engaged in job-sharing activities.

Hanwha is involved in a Matching Grant Program where the company makes a 150 percent matching gift for every voluntary contribution deducted from an employee¡¯s monthly paycheck. The company also encourages pro-bono community service by allowing the employees to spend their work time for volunteer community work.

The Social Work Management Committee of Hanwha, comprised of employees and officers from various departments, is encouraged to give practical, hands-on support to communities by taking part in various volunteer activities and manage the employee¡¯s donations in a transparent manner. Hanwha realized that establishing better practices within the firm creates wealth and at the same time improves society. Hanwha is very pleased to see that each year more and more employees in Hanwha are making personal efforts and commitments to support a fair and clean community.
